Sūrah al-Muʾminūn (The Believers) was revealed in Mecca and consists of 118 verses. This chapter calls to believing in God and in the Last Day. It distinguishes the believers from the disbelievers by presenting the beautiful manifestations of servitude in the former, against the moral vices and evil deeds of the latter. The chapter then gives glad tidings to the believers, and warnings to the disbelievers. These warnings involve a mention of punishments in the hereafter, as well as God’s worldly punishments that uprooted the previous nations who rejected the call of truth, backdating from the time of Noah to the time of the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary.
The content of the chapter shows that it was revealed in Mecca.
