Al-Mizan Vol. 4

This volume corresponds to the second volume of the Arabic text and completes the exegesis of the second chapter of the Qur’an, “The Cow.”

In this volume, the author has discussed the following important subjects: The meaning of “heart” (qalb) in the Qur’an; the use of the words ʿilm (knowledge) and idrāk (perception) in the Qur’an; the position and rights of woman in Islam and other civilizations with regard to marriage and divorce; the meaning of sakinah (tranquility of mind); the struggle for existence and natural selection; the meaning of existence; the Existence of God; the negation of compulsion in religion; the refutation of injustice and misguidance on the part of God Almighty.

At the end, there are two important discussions on economic issues: disbursement and usury (ribāʾ) from the Qur’anic perspective. With this discussion the second volume concludes.
