Al-Mizan Vol. 39

The English volume 39 is the translation of the Arabic volume 20 of al-Mizan, which covers 8 chapters of the Qur’an (70-77). These are the short chapters of the Qur’an, which were predominantly revealed in the early years of the Prophet’s mission in Mecca. The chapters have been used, from the time of the Prophet up to our age, to introduce the beginners to the Book of God. The brevity and rhyme of the verses make them easy to remember, which is an excellent way of developing a personal relationship with the Qur’an.

After outlining the general principles according to which the author has discussed and analyzed various subjects in the prior volumes of al-Mizan, volume 39 opens up with Surah al-Ma’arij, which is the seventieth chapter of the Qur’an. The various subjects discussed in this volume are as follows:

  • A discussion about the Jinn.
  • A discussion about hypocrisy (nifaq), which is complementary to the discussion started in the nineteenth Ar. volume.
  • A discussion about the nature of man from the viewpoint of the Qur’an.
